ISHPSSB 2015 conference – Montreal

Frederic Bouchard was co-chair with Christophe Malaterre for ISHPSSB 2015 Local Organizing Committee.

The meeting took place at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), located right downtown Montréal (Berri-UQAM subway node). It was jointly organized by the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), the Université de Montréal (UdeM) and the Centre interuniversitaire de recherche sur la science et la technologie (CIRST).

The International Society for History, Philosophy, and Social Studies of Biology (ISHPSSB) brings together scholars from diverse disciplines, including the life sciences as well as history, philosophy, and social studies of science. ISHPSSB conferences are known for innovative and transdisciplinary sessions, as well as for fostering informal, co-operative exchanges and on-going collaborations. After nearly thirty years of growth, the ISHPSSB can claim to be the leading international society of its kind.

ISHPSSB 2015 is somewhere around the 13th to 17th meeting organized under the auspices of the ISHPSSB. Recent previous meetings were held in Vienna (2003), Guelph (2005), Exeter (2007), Brisbane (2009), Salt Lake City (2011) and Montpellier (2013) and have attracted up to six hundred participants from all regions of the world.
